Be Kind To Animals
It is our duty as parents and caregivers to teach our children to respect animals.
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “A woman entered Hell because of a cat which she tied up and did not feed, nor did she let it loose to feed upon the vermin of the earth.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3140; Muslim, 2242).
We must inform our children that kindness comes in many forms, including practicing good treatment towards people and animals. In Islam, even the meat we eat (halal) comes from animals that are slaughtered in such a way that they feel as less pain as possible.
Be an example to your children: if you are able to feed a starving animal, do so; if you are able to rescue an animal from a harsh environment, please do so.
