“The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months” [Surah al-Qadr 97:3]
Alhamdulillah, we are in the last 10 days of Ramadan, and this is the time we need really need to increase our ibadaah, or acts of worship, especially during the evenings.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever stays up during Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of earning reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (al-Bukhari, 1910; Muslim, 760)
A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Seek Laylat al-Qadr among the odd numbered nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan.” (al-Bukhari, 2017; Muslim, 1169)
What to recite
Best dua of the last 10 nights: اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ ، تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Aisha reported: I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?” He replied, “You should supplicate: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).” [At-Tirmidhi].
Don’t forget to write a list of duas for yourself, for your loved ones, and for the ummah, so you can recite these duas in the evening after your acts of worship. This is the time to ask Allah for anything, and don’t just ask, but sincerely ask.
Allah the Exalted has said, ”Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer” (Quran 40:60)
