Do women lose themselves once they become mothers?
This is a question I used to often ask myself…. and now I know the answer.
Women do not “lose” themselves upon entering motherhood, but they gain a new self. Motherhood gives women a new perspective on life, new challenges to face; their priorities shift and their love expands to an unreal level.
As soon as you become a mother, a different kind of strength starts to surface, but not just any strength, a mother’s strength. A mother’s strength is special, there is nothing that even comes close to it on this earth- it’s powerful enough to tread through the most difficult of situations.
Mothers aren’t lost, they just end up finding a stronger and more resilient version of themselves.
This is the power of motherhood, and it’s beautiful!
I want to highlight that the transition to motherhood is a complex and difficult one, therefore we can often times feel like we are lost during this life changing transformation. Society doesn’t make it easier for mothers either, as there is pressure to revert back to our pre pregnant selves, rather than helping us to embrace our new postpartum selves.
